I've never been one for New Years' resolutions, but I wanted to set a goal this year to not only find the joy & positivity in my life, but to be thankful for even the small things that sometimes get overlooked....hence, GRATITUDE.
A client of mine recently gave myself and the rest of her treatment team a bag of goodies that included a Gratitude journal...it's like she read my mind, as this item was actually on my "Wish-List" to purchase after my "Need-Now-List" was completed (using Christmas $ of course) ;-) While I know I could have started journaling right then and there, Monday, January 1st just seemed too perfect of a beginning entry - so I decided to wait.
To supplement my gratitude journey, I'm also enlisting a a few resources I have lying around. "The Pocket Book of Positives" is a cool bargain book I purchased at Barnes & Noble last year after Christmas, and I have yet to do more than just skim through it. I actually have utilized the "Wit & Wisdom from the Yoga Mat" (also from Barnes & Noble) for yoga themes, quotes & class ideas, so I'm curious how it will benefit me in this space. The last small book contains additional quotes; and is also from the same client who gifted me the gratitude journal.
I plan on checking in with another blog post about 1/3 or midway through the year (to reflect on what I've learned so far); as well as at the end of December to let it all resonate. Should be interesting!

The concept of a year-long gratitude journal intrigues me, because it gives me 365 opportunities to address why I'm thankful for even the peculiar or distinct things in life. My goal is to jot down just one gratitude every single day, because I'm interested to see how I can emit positive vibes even on the days I may be struggling. Today I could have written a number of journal entries, but I limited myself to (obviously) my #1's -- my family. I won't translate my exact entry as I want some of this experience be personal, but in summary - I'm thankful for the life I've created with my best friend.
From our first road trip together (prior to dating)...
To an amazing proposal, surrounded by friends & family...
From the best wedding I've ever attended....
To being blessed with this little human...
Our family is small but mighty! The journey of marriage and parenting isn't easy, but it's always worth it. I may sometimes get frustrated as mom or wife duties take priority, but I can always count on Dee or Eli to bless me with the biggest laughs, the best kisses, & most importantly, an abundance of love, patience and (you guessed it) - hugs <3

So with that, here's to 2018!
Not only will this be the year of my golden birthday, but I'm also hoping for an increase in gratitude, joy, and fun with this experience.
Let's get to it!
